Winter Enrichment Series: Place / Hide and Seek

We've hit another cold spell this winter and the pups can start to go a little stir-crazy. If you need a way to work your dog's mind and body indoors, try upping your "place" game! Haven't taught your dog "place" yet? Check out this article from the American Kennel Club.

Once your dog knows what "place" means, you can have more fun with it. Slowly try increasing the distance you can get from the dog's bed/mat. When you can get completely out of sight, try going somewhere far in the house and then using their release command to have them come find you.

You can also challenge your dog more by leaving and then coming back in the room Be sure to reward them with treats for staying on the mat. Repeat that a few times and then go hide and release them.

Both you and your dog will have fun and it's a great way to work their mind and body indoors.
